Vitamins

Vitamins are organic compounds needed in living things for metabolic processes. Most vitamins are naturally synthesized in the body, though sometimes it is necessary to ingest vitamins either through food or vitamins supplements. Sometimes the lack of vitamins can cause some sort of vitamin deficiency. Vitamin deficiencies can be very serious and very dangerous, depending on which vitamins you do not have. But the amount of vitamins you consume can be critical if you over-do it. An overdose of certain vitamins, including vitamin A and vitamin D can lead to actual diseases. When taking vitamins, remember that more is not always better. There is a certain amount of every substance that your body requires to work properly. Some vitamins, like vitamin k, can be stored in the body for long periods of time, and as a result, they do not need to be taken daily.

Vitamins can also be found in dietary, nutritional, or herbal supplements. If you take vitamins as a supplement, be sure to take supplements that only offer one type of vitamin, instead of a combination. This is a safety measure. If your body has a poor reaction to the vitamins, you will know exactly what you are taking and what the dosage is.
