Jogging
For those people looking for a great cardio workout, without all of the strain of running, should consider jogging. While it may not be as difficult, jogging causes much less strain on the joints in the leg, especially the knees, than running. Jogging is used by people who are training for marathons, don't enjoy running, or cannot run for long periods of time. Many people use jogging and running to reduce stress. Jogging, just like any other exercise, produces endorphins, which is a natural "high". Endorphins improve mood, and clear your mind. For individuals considering running and/or jogging as their main means of exercise, should also consider the possible long term effects. Jogging or running, especially on hard surfaces such as pavement, causes incredible amounts of stress on the knees, and can lead to future injuries. Many run and joggers are constantly complaining of knee pain, and many don't realize it is the running that causes it. A common way of preventing some of these problems is to purchase a high quality pair of running or jogging shoes, which are designed to take the impact, rather than your joints. All of this considered, jogging is still a great way to improve overall health, and cardiovascular fitness.
