Diabetes symptoms

There are several common diabetes symptoms that people typically develop prior to a diabetes diagnosis. The first of the diabetes symptoms is the very thing that the disease is named for—increased frequent urination. Diabetes is from a Greek word that means to siphon, a reference to the common symptom of the increased production of urine. Another diabetes symptom is that the urine often has a sweet smell or taste, due to the types of sugars found in a diabetic’s blood stream and urine.

But that is not the only diabetes symptom. Other diabetes symptoms include an increased thirst and greater liquid intake, which also contributes to the diabetes symptom of frequent urination. Increased appetite may be another diabetes symptom. But diabetes can also cause rapid weight loss. High glucose levels in the blood can also lead to organ, such as kidney, failure. Persistent high glucose levels can lead to the changes in the shape of the eye. That is why diabetes symptoms include a blurriness in vision, or even blindness.

If you show several diabetes symptoms over a sustained period of time, you should visit a doctor as soon as possible. Diabetes left untreated can lead to serious health complications, and even death.
