Athletes using steroids

A major problem facing some sports today is athletes using steroids. Athletes using steroids is actually nothing new. It has long been illegal for athletes to use steroids because steroids are a controlled substance. Athletes using steroids are actually criminals, and if the athletes using steroids are caught with in possession of steroids, or fail a blood test, they can be heavily fined, imprisoned, and lose their jobs. Athletes using steroids are not only risking fiscal consequences for their actions. Athletes using steroids are at risk for a wide variety of complications, including losing sexual characteristics, cardiac arrest, an increase in cholesterol, steroid rage, cancer, hepatitis, HIV, and death.

Athletes using steroids can also have a detrimental effect on their sport. Athletes using steroids change the field sufficiently that records and accomplishments because meaningless. Performance enhancing drugs do not make the game more interesting, though there are some coaches, trai, ow, and commissio willing to turn a blind eye to athletes using steroids if they think it will increase fan revenue.

Athletes using steroid see what they perceive to be as positive short term effects, so they are willing to overlook the more negative long term effects. But they're playing a dangerous game with their health.
