Abdominals
Abdominals are the muscles located beneath your chest and above your pelvis. They are also referred to as "abs", or a "six pack". The muscle group, abdominals, is responsible for protecting important organs, assistance with breathing, and helping the body bend and twist. Many people are obsessed with gaining muscle definition in the abdominals. The reason being, if you can visibly see abdominal muscle definition, you know that person is in good health. It can be reasonably assumed then, that what people really want is not toned abdominal muscles, but great overall health. Contrary to what many people believe, doing hundreds of sit-ups per day will not give abdominal definition. Instead, the abdominals will be able to do one motion extremely efficiently. Gaining definition in abdominal muscle requires different forms of exercise, including large amounts of cardio, and several separate forms of abdominal exercises. What many people don't realize is that exercising abdominal muscles alone, will not "shed pounds", and instead of concentrating on abdominals, they should be concerned about overall health and weight loss. Gaining defined abdominals, and losing weight is a simple formula. Eat healthy, and exercise more. Instead of reading articles on abdominals, try exercising them. In the end, the exercise will yield more results than reading about them.
